RE: 2008 Rockwood 8313SS and now we have a leak

We did put caulk around the shower and it seems to be ok. We are not sure where the water is coming in at. DH is ready to wrap the TT like in that commercial on TV where the guy wraps his house. If you see a TT going down the road covered in caulk wave cause it will be us. :B. I am trying to keep a positive outlook in all this.

2008 Rockwood 8313SS and now we have a leak

We have a Rockwood 8313SS (has 2 slides). We have had it since July 2008 and yesterday we had a lot of rain and DH which always goes out and checks found a dreaded leak :(. What he found was in the back slide (slide was out) along the top roof right where the slide ends when extended there is water under that strip that runs down the seam. It seems we may have had a leak before as it looks like there is a small buckle as well. It is not running down the outside but if you run your hand along that edge water will come out from under that strip. Man how I was praying we would not have leaks. He put caulk last night but it is still leaking. He is going to check today in the light to see if he sees anything. We are so bummed about leaks. So I hope he can find it. But I guess we will have to take it to the dealer and let them look and see if there is anything else wrong that we don't see.

RE: ordinance against rv's

I have heard from some friends who live in Gwinnett County (Georgia) that the county has enacted a new county wide ordinance for TT's of all types. It says that if your local subdivision ordinance allows you to park in your yard you must have your TT on concrete or as Gwinnett County says "On a hard-surfaced driveway". A friend of mine has had his TT parked in his yard for 5 years and he got a citiation and had to go to court. He was given a 6 month hardship waiver to lay down concrete for the entire TT but he had to create concrete pads where his tires and jacks sit.

RE: Yogi Bear Campground in Georgia

Well we are back from Yogi Bear located in Waco, GA. The park is very nice, we got there Wednesday and we were the only ones there until our friends showed up on Thursday then on Friday 4 more campers came in.
The sites are gravel with sewer, water and electric on most of them. There are 106 sites in the campground, a lot of pull thru's. Some of the sites are close to one another and would be crowded if the campground is full. There are others that would give you more space between the sites.
There are two pools, one large pool, 4.5 feet deep is the deepest area. Then there is a kiddie pool with a mushroom spray and fountains. There are planned activities on Saturdays, they have a train that goes around the park, they have horse shoes you can play and pedal cars (the kids loved these).
The owners are very nice and are really wanting people to come out and visit. He said that this winter they would be building a put put golf course. I heard there are also plans for a water park.
There is not a lot to do around the area so if you could not swim it would be a place where you want to relax and let the kids run free.
I took some pictures and will post them as soon as I figure out how.

RE: What are your travel plans for the 2008 holiday season?

For Thanksgiving our family gets together at RiverBend campground in Hiawassee GA. This is a private campground and the owners on Thanksgiving day provide all the meats (ham and turkey) and all of us campers bring the sides. It is a great time.
For Christmas we have not decided where to head off to yet. We are wanting to go somewhere where there are things for the kids to do. But we will be somewhere for sure.

Direct TV and Concertone Setup

We are getting ready to go camping and use our direct tv receiver. We set it up yesterday in the yard to make sure everything worked. We did get a picture but I think something may be wrong still and since we are using the dreaded Concertone it could be with that. Ok here is what we did...took receiver out of the house connected it to the swtiches in the TT for SAT and TV. We connected the Red, Yellow and White connectors to their appropriate colors. When we got a signal we were on the Concertone setting of TV channel 3. The picture is not as clear as it is in the house not bad just not clear and we have sound. Now when we change the setting on the Concertone unit to Input 2 we have a very clear picture (better than the house) but no sound at all. So is this user error or a wiring error? Any one else out there using Direct TV in their TT with a Concertone set up and can help?
Thanks,
Michelle

RE: traveling with items in fridge

We keep our fridge on all the time so that I can keep the regular stuff in it (ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc.) in it. I pack it up with the other stuff when we are getting ready to go. So yes we always travel with our full and never had a problem.

Protable Surge Guard connecting issues

I was wondering if anyone that had a protable Surge Guard has had any issues connecting it to the campsite electrical post? We bought ours in July and have camped at several parks and the top plug is so short that the weight of the acutal device pulls the plug out. Once campground DH had to bungy cord wrap it to get it to stay in. So I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if so what did you do to correct it?

RE: Yogi Bear Campground in Georgia

Well I just made reservations for later this month. The gentleman that I spoke to was I believe the manager and he was very helpful. He said that they would have the pool still open and they have movies, hayrides and train rides scheduled. So I will post on my experience.
He said the signs were going up and they are starting to do more advertising. I told him there was a little talk here on Rv.net and he said that was good. He is anxious to get the word out.
I forgot to post this...he said they do not have cable yet but they are planning on installing it has the campgound become more popular.

RE: Watson Mill Bridge or Victoria Bryant SP in Ga?

We stay at Victoria Bryant every Labor Day and we love it. The park is very nice, clean bathrooms and lots of hiking trails. They have a small waterfall area where the kids can play on the rocks. Plus there is a golf course right next door if you play. Now up at the campground there is not a playground there is a volley ball area, horse shoes and plenty of room to ride bikes. The playground is down near the picnic areas. Plus they have a pool onsite (there is a 3.00 charge) that is nice for the kids to play in and it has never been real crowded any time we have been there.
We have camped at Watson Mill as well, no playground or stuff up in the campground area, plenty of hiking trails and they aslo have the rocks you can play on.
Between the two I would choose Victoria Bryant. IMO
